Product FAQ’s:

+ Are Butter & Fig products handmade?

Yes. We make all products by hand in small batches in the sunny town of Gilbert, Arizona

+ Do you test on animals?

We do not test on animals and source all of our ingredients from suppliers who are also cruelty free

+ What is the difference between a nourishing body scrub and a lathering body scrub?

Our nourishing body scrubs are a traditional sugar based scrub which includes plant based oils and shea butter for deep hydration. Our lathering body scrub is similar to our nourishing scrub, but includes a castile soap which cleanses as it moisturizes

+ Why do you use fragrance oils instead of essential oils in some of your products?

Fragrance oils provide a wide range of scents which align with our design esthetic and are utilized in our wash off products. You will find that all of our fragrances are phthalate free

+ What does phthalate free mean?

+ Which of your products are 100% natural?

Our Meadoe Face Oil and Blue Hammock Neck Oil (contains only essential oils), some of our soap bars such as our Eucalyptus + Mint and Hops + Barley. We also have our line of all natural body scrubs and body oils which include natural plant based fragrance oils

+ What is the shelf life of Butter & Fig products?

Due to the nature of our products and the conscious choice to leave synthetic stabilizers out of ingredient list, the shelf life ranges from 6-12 months depending on the product. Products, especially those with citrus elements over time may change in color or texture. To extend the life of our products we recommend storing products in a cool, dark, dry place. Body Scrubs – keep lid on scrubs when not in use, this will extend the life of scrub Soap Bars – let soap bars dry out in between uses to extend the life of your soap bar. *Hand Lotions/Body Souffles – Keep away from hear or direct sunlight – UV/UVB rays may cause lotion to discolor – this is due to oxidation, but does not change the effectiveness of the product. Some discoloration is normal

+ Why do some of my products look different?

All items are handmade in small batches so there may be slight differences. Changes to product look, color, ingredient list, scent or labeling may occur. We are always looking for ways to improve products and slight variations may occur

+ My favorite product is no longer available. Will this product be available again?

We try our best to keep our desert line of products available year round. This includes: Prickly Pear + Poppy, Barrel Cactus + Rain, Blue Agave + Salted Lime, Wildflowers + Mimosa, Desert Fig + Walnut and Charcoal + Hibiscus. Ever so often one of these items will be sold out, which may have to do with a back ordered ingredient or heavy volume of orders. These items are usually back available within a week. All other scents are subject to change.

+ Are you products sold in stores?

+ Do you offer wholesale?

Yes! Space is currently limited. Visit our wholesale page for more information

+ Do you offer custom or private label?

No. Not at this time

+ Why are the hand lotions no longer offered in glass?

We love glass and are always looking for ways to lessen our environmental foot print. With that being said… the choice to leave synthetic stabilizers and harsh preservatives out of our ingredient list, we have found that the glass shortens the life of the lotion by letting harsh UV/UVB rays in causing oxidation and discoloration. After much research and testing, we have found bottles that are made from recycled plastic and help improve the shelf life of the lotion

+ Do you have any sales or specials?

Yes! We have sales a few times throughout the year as well as occasional specials. Follow us on Instagram for more information. @butterandfigco and @butterandfig_men

+ Will I be charged tax on my order?

You are subject to tax is your shipping address falls in any of the following states: Arizona, Washington, Oregon, California, New York, Illinois, Connecticut or Texas

+ What preservatives do you use?

Whenever possible we use a plant based preservative called Leucidal (Radish Root Ferment) and some products which require an optimized preserving system, we use a blend of Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol which is mild, paraben and formaldehyde free. We also use Vitamin E in each of our products to naturally extend the shelf life to keep products in their freshest form. In the rare case you receive a product that you feel is not at its freshest point, please contact us immediately at hello@butterandfig.com. We ensure freshness and stand behind each of products, but mistakes do happen.

+ What order do you recommend I apply products in?

Cleanse. Tone to remove impurities remaining after cleansing, tighten pores, and improve your skin’s moisture absorption. Face oil for natural hydration and glow (wait 3-5 mins. Before applying makeup). Please keep in mind, each person’s skin is different and results may vary. We provide a general bases of our products. We recommend conducting a test with each product to ensure a product’s compatibility with your individual skin type.

+ I have a skin allergy, how can I find out which product is right for me?

Each product description includes a full ingredient list. If you have a severe allergy, we recommend you avoid our products * Our facility handles products that may contain milk, soy, wheat, peanuts & tree nuts

+ Where does your palm oil come from?

We only source our palm oil through a supplier who only carries RSPO certified palm oil. Visit our ingredient information page for more information.

+ Are Butter & Fig products natural?

Yes. Our products range from 96-100% natural, using the highest grade plant based ingredients available

+ Are Butter & Fig products vegan?

Most of our products are vegan with the exception of our lip butters (contain locally sourced beeswax) and our body souffles (contain silk)

+ Are Butter & Fig products gluten free?

None of our products contain gluten or gluten derived ingredients

+ Do your products contain any nut oils?

Yes. We use Sweet Almond Oil, Kukui Nut Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Argan Oil and this list is subject to change. Check full ingredient list for each product for additional information

+ Do you products include SPF?

No. Not at this time. *Products that include AHA and BHA ingredients may make skin more sensitive to light. We do not recommend using these products prior to exposure to sun

+ What type of colorants do you use?

We use only skin safe colorants which may include micas, powders, pigments or natural colorants such as clays, activated charcoal, sandalwood, fruit powders or other plant botanicals

+ Where do you source your materials from?

The majority of our ingredients are sourced through the US whenever possible to include local and wildcrafted ingredients. Variations in ingredients may vary from time to time

+ How long does it take for my order to ship?

All orders ship within 1-3 business day from butterandfig.com. Please allow extra time for items to ship around major holidays. If you place an order with one of our retail partners, contact them directly for their shipping time frames

+ How long will it take for my order to get to me once it ships?

Most states are within a 4 day shipping time frame. _*_See holiday questions for additional shipping times

+ Which carrier do you use to ship packages?

All packages are shipped through Fedex

+ Can I request to have my order shipped through a different carrier than Fedex?

No. We are currently only using Fedex. This is through our experience with other carriers and have found Fedex to be the most reliable and gentle carrier. We want your items to arrive safely and on time. With that being said… We are not responsible for items damaged or lost by Fedex. We are also not responsible for a package that’s tracking has been marked “delivered”, but has not been received. In the rare case this happens, contact Fedex directly to file a claim

+ What are your shipping rates?

Free shipping is offered on orders over $50 and applies only to the Continental U.S. Fedex Ground - $10 flat fee

Fedex Express Overnight - $30 flat fee + $2 per item

+ Where do orders ship from?

We ship orders from Gilbert, Arizona

+ Your shipping seems high, why is that?

Most of our products are packaged in glass containers and they are heavy. We take every measure to ensure items arrive safely

Due to the nature of our products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges. All sales are final. + I received my order and I am unhappy with my scent choice. Can I return or exchange an item?

Unfortunately due to the nature of our products we cannot accept returns or exchanges. All sales are final. We do our best to accurately describe each item (If only online shopping had a scratch-n-sniff option). If you would like to smell or try a product before purchasing and are local (Gilbert), see our calendar for shop hours. + If I place an order online would I be able to pick up locally at your Gilbert shop or from one of your scheduled events/markets?

+ I need products by a certain date, how do I find out if items will be received in time?

PRIOR to purchasing, contact us at hello@butterandfig.com. Please allow extra processing and shipping times around major holidays such as Black Friday.

+ When do I need to order by to receive my items in time for Christmas?

To receive items in time for Christmas, the Butter & Fig team will process orders every day up until Dec. 20th. Orders received AFTER Dec. 20th will not ship until Dec. 26th or the next business day following the holiday. Most states are within a 4 day ship time frame, but cannot guarantee orders placed after Dec. 18th. _*_Fedex deliveries are dependent upon weather, delays for any other reason, such as not at home at the time of delivery, accurate shipping addresses or lacking shipping instructions. These are out of our control.

+ Its hot outside. Is it safe to order?

If you live in a hotter climate state or it’s hot outside, please make sure to make arrangements for your package. Products can be damaged if left outside, in a mailbox or metal parcel locker, left in the sun or in a car. We will not refund or replace items that have been damaged by heat

+ Expedited shipping is the only shipping option available. Why?

Expedited shipping is the only form of shipping we offer during the summer months due to the heat. If you have any questions please email us at hello@butterandfig.com

Other Questions

+I sent an email and have not received a response back. Why?

Please allow 24 hours for a response. If it has been longer than 24 hours and you have still not received a response back, please send us a DM on Instagram or Facebook. Sometimes emails end up in the junk folder. This is done by the email elves and have no control over their naughty behavior. We apologize in advanced for their naughtiness *Please see below regarding brand ambassadors/influencers

+ Does Butter & Fig need brand ambassadors/influencers to promote products?

Nope! We receive a large amount of emails and DM’s every day requesting free products. Due to the heavy volume of messages asking for free product in exchange for reviews, these messages will not be answered. But, we do offer a variety of small goods that are available for purchase.

+ Do you provide free product for charities, giveaways or swag bags?

Please email us at info@butterandfig.com. Please allow up to 6 weeks for us to review

+ Do you offer refunds or exchanges?

Due to the nature of our products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges. All sales are final.
